Jóhanna á Bergi is Atlantic Airways’ New CEO
The Board of Atlantic Airways has appointed Jóhanna á Bergi as the Faroese carrier’s new CEO. Jóhanna á Bergi, currently CEO of Faroe Ship, takes up her new position on 1 September 2015 at the latest
Jóhanna á Bergi will be Atlantic Airways’ new CEO. Concluding a systematic selection process, in which all 45 applications for the position were considered, the board asked á Bergi to become the company’s new CEO.
Jóhanna á Bergi is 44 years old and has extensive leadership and board experience. For the past nine years she has been CEO of the shipping company Faroe Ship. She has a degree in leadership from Robert Gordon University, Scotland, and has also studied sales and marketing at Den Danske Eksportskole. Formerly Jóhanna á Bergi was sales manager at JFK, which is both a ship owner and runs fish processing plants that produces and exports fish products from the Faroes. At one point she was sales manager for the fish exporter Faroe Seafood in France. In addition to her leadership positions, she has held diverse board positions over the past several years.
-In Jóhanna á Bergi we have found the right CEO to carry forward Atlantic Airways’ new strategy, which the board together with Jørgen Holme and our staff have developed and initiated after Jørgen Holme became interim CEO a year and a half ago. Jóhanna á Bergi has strong leadership experience, and she has the right mix of qualifications in sales, marketing and finances, states Niels Mortensen, Chair of the Board.
Jørgen Holme became interim CEO of Atlantic Airways in November 2013 for a transitional period of maximum two years. He will continue as CEO until Jóhanna á Bergi takes up the position on 1 September at the latest.

Jóhanna á Bergi will be Atlantic Airways’ fourth CEO since the carrier was founded on 10 November 1987.
